We are continuing our series of bilateral meetings on the Karabakh Conflict

Max Konrad2023-11-21T16:14:05+01:00November 21st, 2023|

As Armenians are leaving their home region (traditionally called “Qarabakh”) in droves, it may seem that the only option for Armenia is to acknowledge full defeat. Nevertheless, there are extant bilateral issues (such as the demarcation of the border) and there is a long list of Armenian demands and complaints which puts the international community before the challenge to redefine their presence and their involvement in what the Azerbaijani side regards as a purely internal affair.

Continuing the series of bilateral discussions and negotiations in Vienna and given the principal willingness of our guests to meet again, ICEUR has invited representatives of the two sides in order to identify issues for a pragmatic and open debate as well as to elaborate proposals for a possible role for the OSCE, the UN and other international actors.
The planned event addresses the diplomatic and expert community and is held under Chatham House rules.

Participants:

Edmon Marukyan
(Ambassador-at-Large of Armenia)

Hayk Mamijanyan
(Republican Party of Armenia)

Arif Hajili
(Head of the Equality Party of Azerbaijan)

Vasif Huseynov
(Head of the Western Studies Department,
Center for Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), Baku)
