However important our analytical work may be, the prevailing situation calls for prioritizing immediate and concrete support for Ukraine. Other than taking a moral stand and issuing declarations we would like to make a few concrete proposals:

  1. We call upon our members and especially our business partners to extend financial or other material aid to Ukraine, Ukrainian refugees or Ukrainian institutions or organizations. This is in keeping with our goals and our mission as an association under Austrian law, let alone with Austria’s neutral status.

Financial donations may be processed by: Gesellschaft ukrainischer Jugend in Österreich

IBAN: AT19 2011 1823 5370 5400
SWIFT: GIBAATWWXXX

Reference (Verwendungszweck): Humanitäre Spende Ukraine

Apart from financial means, Ukraine needs drugs, pharmaceuticals, bandages, and particularly essentials for child care, as well as medical equipment.
Please write to our office address (office@iceur-vienna.at). We can organize transport to Ukraine. You can drop off any donations on Mondays and Fridays between 11-16 o‘clock at our office at Breitenseer Straße 19/24-26 in Vienna. If not otherwise possible, another time can be arranged if necessary.

  1. Refugees: At this over 1 million individuals have reached safe territories. First groups have reached Austria. The total figure of refugees may reach 7 million. Since these people are no migrants and wish to return to their home country as quickly as possible, aid and services extended have a provisional and temporary character. Urgent needs (among other things): housing, child care, translation services, catering, legal advice.
  2. Needless to say, we welcome further ideas.
  3. Political recommendations will follow in an extra paper.
